Oh, this is gorgeous! Green is such a challenging color to work with, and you’ve used it to its most stunning advantage. It is so beautiful, you’ve actually inspired me to give watercolor another try. 🙂 Of all the paintings I’ve seen from hopping around from art blog to art blog, this is surely my absolute favorite.
Oh, my goodness, what a nice compliment! Thank you so much for the kind words, Judith. It means so much to me that this painting inspired you to give watercolor another chance. I will let you in on a little secret: There is a new color in my palette that gives a nice balance to the green and blue shades. It’s green gold (PY129). I can’t wait to see your next watercolor painting. Have a great weekend — Laureen
Ooooh, thanks for sharing that little secret! I might just look around for that color and see what I can do with it. I’m horrible at watercolors, but I really do want to give it a try with a “looser” sort of style. We have a grandson who loves painting. Next time he comes over and we get out the art supplies, Grandma will do a bit of painting, too. 🙂
Laureen, this is beautiful. There is a feeling of looseness and spontaneity as well as very deliberate touches that help to hold the composition together. Vibrant color and very direct and satisfying composition. Great to see new work! Brava!
What a nice compliment, Jeff! Thank you so much. Maybe the spotaneity stems from having less time to paint and concentrating on the overall mood and less on detail. I’ve spent about three to four hours on this piece, that’s half the time I usually spend on a painting. Thanks again for commenting, it means a lot. Have a great day — Laureen

Seems like green is the in colour: lovely loose watercolour, Laureen
