I haven’t had time to paint lately, so I went through my drawer to see if there was anything I could post to bridge the gap: This painting was done back in 2017 when I was just starting out in watercolor. Silver the Labrador and Squeak the Terrier mix have sadly passed away in the meantime. I remember wanting to add an extra layer of fur on both dogs. I am glad I didn’t finish this piece because Silver and Squeak now have an almost angelic quality to them.
You sniff over there, I’ll be here.

It makes a nice memorial to your canine companions. I hope you get a chance to do more painting soon and look forward to seeing the results.

I am really in love with this watercolor because it has some extraordinary qualities. The composition is outstanding and sometimes it is great to keep a piece “unfinished”. Hope you can get back into painting soon.

Thank you so much for the high praise, Carsten! And I completely agree with you: Some paintings lose their spark when we attempt to finish them. This weekend is going to be a quiet one, so I will get to do some painting. Hope your day is going well so far. Cheers, Laureen
