Thank you so much, Carsten. I had a stroke of bad luck with a series of paintings and, overall, felt a bit stuck in my ways. Your Ireland sketches must have inspired me to also take on a more abstract approach π
Beautiful!. The composition holds together very well with the strength of the verticals (trees) and the vibrant colors carry the eye all around. I particularly like the handling of the red branches on the right. Just enough detail and randomness but with a wonderfully natural rhythm. It looks like you didn’t do a preliminary drawing and went right to the watercolors. Very bold!
Thank you Jeff! I am glad you like this piece. You are right: I did not do any preliminary scetching, and the red branches on the right are ficticious. It’s the first time that I placed someting into a painting that wasn’t on my reference material. Currently, I am somewhat deviating from my usual techniques to find a way to enhance the quality of my paintings.
Lovely
